Acolytes
The Acolytes (or Servers) assist the priest during all the Services, particularly the Eucharist. They help set up the Altar, assist the priest with the altar bread, altar wine and water, carry the Processional Cross, care for the incense, carry the Gospel Book, light and put out the candles, and sometimes carry Candles in Procession. (Candles represent the Light of Christ among us.) They can be of any age, but are often teenagers or young men or women. Acolytes are very important to the priest during a service, making it much easier for him to celebrate mass. If you would like to be trained as an Acolyte, please speak to Fr. Ron Barnes now.
