Fr. Ron Barnes was appointed as priest-in-charge of Sts. Peter and Paul Church, El Centro, on Nov 1st, 2009. He also looks after All Saints Church in Brawley. Fr. Ron lives with his wife in the Rectory at Sts. Peter and Paul, or in their RV (a Titanium 31-36) at Fountain of Youth RV Park, 10 miles north of Niland, CA. His goal is to rebuild both churches in faith and members.
Fr. Ron is a Canadian from the Anglican Church of Canada. He comes with a wide range of experience. From 1960 to 1969, he cared for parishes in North Ontario, Diocese of Algoma. In Sept 1969, he was moved to the Diocese of New Westminster, and over the next 30 years cared for St.Barnabas, New Westminster, St.Clement, North Vancouver, and St.John the Apostle, Port Moody. During that time, he made his Cursillo (1978), participated in Episcopal Renewal (1983), founded the Marriage Preparation Program for the Diocese and ran it for 8 years, was elected as the Clerical Secretary for the Diocese for 13 years, did Radio Programs for CKNW, was Chaplain at West Vanc Yacht Club, did over 500 Committals at Sea from his sailboat, and still found time to earn a Doctorate in Computer Communication. Following retirement in 1999, he installed FirstClass Communication Systems for 14 dioceses complete with Training for clergy and staff, was appointed as Senior Port Chaplain for the Mission to Seafarers, Vancouver, and cared for several small churches in the Fraser Valley. In 2005, he moved to Kelowna, BC. He has been a priest for almost 50 years.
Fr. Ron is married to Beverley, and they have 4 children and 13 grandchildren.
